Beverage Industry News - New KRONES MSF Mixer with Mass Flow Meter

New KRONES MSF Mixer with mass flow meter

The new KRONES MSF Mixer with mass flow meter covers the output range of 12,000 to 60,000 litres/h at continuous operation.

With blending systems for producing non-alcoholic beverages, there is a trend toward automatic solutions rather than mechanic solutions. This is due to the call for more flexibility. Increased product varieties in the beverage blending field lead to the consideration of many new requirements such as less tolerances for Brix and CO2 values, low O2-content, as well as a minimum of product and syrup loss.

KRONES AG, Neutraubling, provide the perfect solution for beverage blending with their broad product range covering all variations of mixing, but also company-specific process wishes. The single-stage or double-stage deaeration to any required rest value as well as carbonation using an amount-limited injector technology is the same with all KRONES blending systems. There are differences with the actual blending process.

The MSF Mixer (Mixer-Softdrink-Flow) is now equipped with a mass flow meter instead of with reciprocating pumps. The product blend is not only achieved by regulating the components but also by creating a ratio of e.g. 1 plus 5. With the new MSF mixer, the output range of 12,000 to 60,000 litres/h adapts to the filler speed at continuous operation. In particular when starting the mixer, the components can be exactly determined in the mass flow meter, and at request, be dosed again. Thus the values can be set within very close tolerances – an optimum product quality is quickly achieved.

Enrichment of O2 for oxygen beverages

As a special design, the MSF mixer caters for the enrichment of water with O2 in multi-supersaturated concentrations. A problem with O2 enrichment is that the natural saturation behaviour of O2 in water with a temperature of 15° C reaches its saturation degree already at 10 mg/l. In order to achieve a physiological effect, a 1 to 10-fold O2 content in the finished product is recommended. Due to losses during filling and permeation from the filled and closed PET bottle, it is not necessary to provide a multiple of this amount in the mixer. A special construction of the mixer makes this possible.
The MS Mixer is designed for manufacturers that prefer batch-wise beverage processing. The Multiblend MF multi-component mixer is made for manufacturers, who make their own syrup. With the modular components D (desorption/deaeration), A (absorption/carbonation) and P (product processing) it is possible to compose a customised deaeration, dosing and blending system.
