PEPSICO applauds Deal between Pepsi Bottling Group and GEMEX

PepsiCo issued the following statement from Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Steve Reinemund in response to announcements by two of its largest bottlers, Pepsi Bottling Group and GEMEX:

“We are delighted that Pepsi Bottling Group and GEMEX have reached an agreement under which PBG will acquire GEMEX.  This is a very important step in our ongoing effort to strengthen our global bottling system by consolidating major markets in the hands of several very capable and highly efficient anchor bottlers. 

“PBG, already the world’s largest Pepsi bottler, is well equipped to continue building on the success of GEMEX founder Enrique Molina, a gifted entrepreneur who has been a contributor to the success of Pepsi for four decades.“
